Raw Food is one of the Resources in Frostpunk.

Description[ | ]

Raw food is essential to creating Food Rations for the people in Frostpunk. 1 raw food in a cookhouse with no upgrades or laws enacted will produce 2 food rations. People will consume 1 food ration per day (Children, Engineers and Workers).

In times of desperation, people will resort to eating raw food. At a ratio of 1 raw food to 1 per person--a far less efficient method of feeding the population than a preparing meals in a cookhouse. People eating raw food also have a higher chance of getting sick.

  • Starving people eat 2 rations per day.
  • A few particular laws can change the raw food to food ration formula (e.g, the Soup Law) or change consumption of rations (e.g, Double Rations for the Ill Law).

Trivia[ | ]

Q: How many Hunters Hut should I build initially?
A: On normal difficulty, one hunt can deliver up to 15 raw food which will turn into 30 cooked rations. You would need 2.66 Hunters Huts to allow your starting 80 people to eat every day. With the Hunters' Gear (Technology) upgrade, you can increase raw food to up to 20, which means you would just need 2.0 huts to feed your 80 people. Note that, on normal, citizens take 3 days to become hungry, so you do have a buffer in these numbers. See Food for more information on these mechanics.
