From Fire and Riots is an event arc in The Fall of Winterhome. It's centered around rescuing people from the ruins of the city.

A voice in the ruins[ | ]

From Fire and Riots - A voice in the ruins

As you're clearing ruins, this event will trigger.

Sir, people have heard a child's voice coming from the wreckage! A child has survived the terrible night of destruction when half of Winterhome burned. So many lives were lost in the blaze and fighting we can't let this child die too!

You have the following options:

  • We have to help the child

This will spawn a quest to help the child.

Little survivor[ | ]

From Fire and Riots - Little survivor

If you manage to pull the child out of the ruins, this event will trigger.

Sir, we pulled the child out of the ruins! He's the sole survivor of his family. He's badly burned and will die without proper medical attention... and we can't provide it yet.

You have the following options:

  • Carry on: 1 Child (gravely ill). Hope will rise slightly.

The rescue came too late[ | ]

If you do not manage to clear the ruins in time, this event will trigger.

Sir, our people removed the debris, but they were too late. They found the bodies of a terribly burned child in the arms of his father.

You have the following options:

  • Carry on: Hope will fall slightly

The child will live[ | ]

Once the child recovers from being gravely ill, this event will trigger if he suffers an amputation.

Sir, we saved the burned child's life, but the damage to his arm was so severe that gangrene started to develop. The medical team did their best to save the arm, but they had to remove it above the elbow.

You have the following options:

  • Poor child

The child died[ | ]

If the child dies while seeking medical attention, this event will trigger.

Sir, the burned child we pulled out of the ruins died. We failed to treat his burns in time.

A miraculous recovery[ | ]

From Fire and Riots - A miraculous recovery

Once the child makes a full recovery - either by being amputated and fitted with a prosthesis or simply by recovering without amputation - this event will trigger.

Sir, we saved the burned child's life. Although he'll bear the scars for the rest of his life, his survival is, simply put, miraculous. People are rejoicing at the news.

You have the following options:

  • I'm glad to hear that: Hope will rise slightly.

Voices in the ruins (Engineers)[ | ]

This event should trigger sometime after the child's voice is heard.

Sir, our people have found more survivors trapped under the ruins! If we hurry, we might manage to remove the rubble in time to save them.

Victims rescued[ | ]

If you clear the ruins, this event will trigger

Sir, we rescued a group of engineers! They were trying to get the Generator working when the fighting broke out, but were arrested by the previous leader's thugs. They're hurt, but will recover soon with proper medical attention.

You have the following options:

  • I'm glad to hear that : 4 Engineers (hungry, ill) Hope rises slightly

This event will trigger sometime after the child's voice is heard.

Sir, one of our people has just heard voices coming from the ruins! It's a miracle that there are any survivors after all this time. We must hurry or we'll lose them.

You have the following options:

Cowardly thugs[ | ]

This event will trigger if you clear the ruins in time

Sir, we pulled several thugs from the ruins who served the previous leader! When these cowards realised that we were winning, they hid in the guardhouse pantry and were buried under the debris after it caught fire. What shall we do with them?

You have the following options:

  • Banish them: Discontent will fall
  • Let them be, they won't hurt anyone any more: 4 Workers (starving, ill). Discontent will rise greatly.

After all the groups are rescued, this event will trigger. It has two variations:

From Fire and Riots - Divided in death

This event will trigger later on in the quest to restore the city.

Sir, we've noticed that the dead in the Snow Pit have been divided into two heaps. In one lie the victims of the fires and the brutal attempts to pacify the riots, many with gunshot wounds. On the other, the charred corpses of the perpetrators, the previous leader and his men. Some people talk about throwing them out of the city, far away from "decent folk".

You have the following options:

  • They've already paid for their crimes: Hope will rise slightly.
  • Get this filth out of our city: Discontent will fall slightly
