A Word of Advice is a series of events that trigger independently of each other. This series is mostly informative.

Bury the dead[ | ]

A Word of Advice - Bury the dead

This event will trigger when you remove your cemetery.

People are indignant about the removal of the Cemetery. They demand that the dead be immediately reburied.

You should find a suitable place and establish a new Cemetery.

You have one option:

Counting the bodies[ | ]

This event will trigger after the passage of Organic Fertiliser (Law) or Alternative food source (Law).

It seemed unthinkable in the past, but this is a new world and we have to adapt. The bodies of our dead can now be utilised to help us survive, so we've started keeping a tally of how many we have.

You have the following options:

Critical shortage[ | ]

This event has two variations:

Many of us are hungry and we don't have enough materials to build a Cookhouse. Perhaps a short burst of effort could help us gather the necessary resources.
The number of sick is rising and we don't have enough materials to build a Medical Post. Perhaps a short burst of effort could help us gather the necessary resources.

Danger of disease[ | ]

A heat zone has reached the Snow Pit and the bodies are beginning to rot. Dangerous diseases could begin to spread in our city.

We should either move the Snow Pit or scale back the heat zone.

A Word of Advice - Feed more with less

This event will trigger if you have hungry citizens and do not have Soup (Law) or Food Additives (Law) passed.

Our food supplies are running low. We could stretch them if we start using more efficient meal recipes suitable for these hard times.

First death[ | ]

A Word of Advice - First death

This event triggers upon your first citizen dying if you do not have Cemetery (Law) or Corpse Disposal (Law) passed.

One of our people has just died. Sickness, accidents and deadly cold will keep claiming lives in this harsh world.

We need a way to dispose of the body.

You have the following options:

  • I will solve this problem: You will have 3 days to provide a place for the dead.
  • I'm already working on it.
  • People can take care of it themselves.
  • Open the book of laws: Consider signing the Cemetery or Corpse Disposal law.

House of Healing[ | ]

Sir, some of our workers, motivated by their faith, have volunteered to help with the sick even the gravely ill. We could build the House of Healing and have them treat people there if you pass the necessary law.

Man the Dreadnought[ | ]

A Word of Advice - Man the Dreadnought

This event triggers in The Fall of Winterhome when Prepare the Evacuation (Arc) starts.

Sir, the Evacuation Centre is operational.

We can now send engineers to the Dreadnought. Once there, they will be able to start restoring it to serviceable condition using the resources we send them.

This event will trigger if your Laws aren't on cooldown, you have corpses, and no Cemetery or Snow Pits.

People can become ill if they come into contact with decomposing bodies. It's time to decide what to do with the remains of our deceased.

Repair Station improvements[ | ]

This event triggers in The Fall of Winterhome after you build the Repair Station.

The evacuation of so many people will take time, so we need to keep the Generator running for as long as possible. Fortunately, our engineers have several ideas about how to raise the efficiency of the Repair Station.

This event triggers in The Arks when you run out of Steam Cores.

Captain, we've run out of Steam Cores. We know there are some industrial ruins to the north and south. We might find more Steam Cores there.

A Word of Advice - The wisdom of the crowd

This event triggers early in the game.

Captain, when facing demands, remember this people usually look for the quickest solution, not the best one. You don't have to agree to everything they ask for. If you fix the problem your way, it's fine.

A Word of Advice - Using Automatons

Treat the gravely ill[ | ]

One of our people is gravely ill. If you sign the Radical Treatment law, the gravely ill will be treated in Medical Posts, but may undergo risky amputations as a result. Alternatively, you might sign the Sustain Life law to keep them alive until we build an Infirmary.

Unburied corpse[ | ]

A Word of Advice - Unburied Corpse

This event will trigger if you have corpses and no Cemetery or Snow Pit.

A few of our people have fallen ill after coming into contact with a decomposing body. This will keep happening if we have no way to dispose of the dead.

This event triggers after you create your first Automaton.

Workers needed[ | ]

A Word of Advice - Workers needed

This event will trigger if you run out of free workers and can pass Child Labour - Safe Jobs (Law).

There's so much to do and not enough hands to do it. A quick way of addressing this problem is to put our children to work.
