Frostpunk Wiki is recruiting!

Frostpunk Wiki is a community project run entirely by volunteers to provide information for the game. We are looking for users to help edit the wiki and help to keep it up-to-date. You don't need to be an admin or have any special permissions there's no need to wait. Jump right in and start editing. The wiki maintenance category may be a great place to start, or you can start small by fixing spelling, grammar, and other errors you come across.

A Christmas Carol is an event arc that was available in version 1.3.2. It is also available in 1.4.1 in endless mode (but not The Builders) starting on December 18th. The following events are available in it.

The Spirit of Christmas Past[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - The Spirit of Christmas Past

The arc begins with this event, which will trigger at the end of the 6th day.

An old man visits you. "Sir, you'd be forgiven if you forgot because of the evacuation and the storm, but I didn't. It's the end of December and in the old days it meant that Christmas is near", he says.

"The Dark Years were so hard on us that for many young people Christmas became a historical oddity. To preserve the tradition, we could celebrate it with a common meal and presents, but the most important thing is giving people hope that this year will be different."

You have the following options:

  • We can't afford it.
  • I need to think about it: You have a day to decide.
  • We'll celebrate Christmas: You'll have to organise the Christmas festivities.

If you chose you need to think about it, you'll see the old man again.

The old man visits you again. "Sir, have you made up your mind about Christmas? We have just a few days left", he says.

"To preserve the tradition, we could celebrate Christmas with a common meal and presents, but the most important thing is giving people hope that this year will be different."

A modern man[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - A modern man

If you chose to celebrate Christmas, this event will trigger later.

A young engineer approaches you, visibly upset. He's one of the people who are dead set against the idea of celebrating Christmas.

"Christmas? Bah, humbug! We mustn't let the past weigh us down! Every day we struggle to forge the new man who can survive the end of the world. Reviving such sentimental traditions doesn't advance our goal. Let people celebrate in private, but cancel the common meal!"

You have the following options:

  • I disagree: Hope will rise. Food Rations will be spent on Christmas day.
  • I agree: You won't have to spend the Food Rations.

A time for giving[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - A time for giving

If you chose to celebrate Christmas, this event will trigger later.

A child visits you to ask about the approaching Christmas.

"Sir, my mother said that there will a big celebration and that we are going to get presents, but other kids laugh at me and say that nobody will give us anything for free. This is the first Christmas of my life - please, tell me that there will be presents!"

You have the following options:

  • We can't afford presents.
  • All children will get something : Hope will rise slightly. Wood will be spent on Christmas day.
  • All children will get nice toys: Hope will rise. Wood will be spent on Christmas day.

The last Christmas[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - The last Christmas

If you do not complete any objectives during the quest, this will be your ending.

A single star shines dimly over the Generator as people retreat to their homes to share a meagre meal and their sorrows with family and friends. Children sit at the tables, unusually subdued.

The memory of their first and last Christmas will stay with them for years the ghost of a kinder, warmer world that is now gone forever.

You have the following options:

  • I see.

A wistful Christmas[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - A wistful Christmas

If you complete either the toys or food objective but do not complete the hope objective, this will be your ending.

If you give them food but not toys:

Stars shine coldly over the Generator as people leave their homes and gather around it to share a meal and their troubles. Kids gobble up their favourite foods, still not believing there's enough for seconds.

The children seem unaffected by the somber atmosphere. The memory of this special day will stay with them forever - a glimpse of a kinder, warmer world that once was.

Alternatively, if you chose to give toys but not food:

Stars shine coldly over the Generator as people retreat to their homes to share a modest meal and their troubles with family and friends. Kids open their presents and clutch them tightly, still not believing their eyes.

The children seem unaffected by the somber atmosphere. The memory of this special day will stay with them forever - a glimpse of a kinder, warmer world that once was.

You have the following options:

  • Let's toast to the future: Hope rises slightly.

A hopeful Christmas[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - A hopeful Christmas

If you complete only the hope requirement of the quest, this event will trigger.

A single star shines brightly over the Generator as people retreat to their homes to share a modest meal with family and friends. Children sit at the tables, unusually quiet. How different this Christmas is from the stories told by their parents.

And yet they see smiles all around, hear laughter and heartfelt greetings. The memory of this special day will stay with them to become a beacon of hope in their darkest hours.

You have the following options:

  • Well done: Hope rises greatly.

A merry Christmas[ | ]

A Christmas Carol - A merry Christmas

If you complete the hope and one of the toys or food objectives, this event will be your ending.

If you give them food but not toys:

Stars twinkle over the Generator as people leave their homes and gather around it to share a meal and their joy. Kids gobble up their favourite foods, still not believing there's enough for seconds.

Whatever happens, the memory of this happy day will stay with them to become a beacon of hope in their darkest hours.

If you complete all three objectives, this event will be your ending.

Little stars over the Generator twinkle merrily as people leave their homes and gather around it to share a meal and their joy. Kids open their presents and clutch them tightly, still not believing their eyes.

Whatever happens, the memory of this wondrous day will stay with them forever, bringing them hope in hour of need.
