Trouble with the Londoners is an event arc in A New Home centered around acts of vandalism caused by the Londoners.

Writing on the wall[edit | edit source]

This event will trigger shortly after the Londoners act begins.

Captain, someone has defaced the walls with predictions of doom for our city.

This is troubling. People already fear we'll share Winterhome's fate, and scared minds are swayed by even the smallest nudges.

You have the following options:

  • Send a cleric to reassure people: Hope will fall slightly. Requires a House of Prayer
  • Send watchmen to remove it: Hope will fall slightly. Requires the Neighbourhood Watch
  • Ignore it: Hope will fall

Another act of vandalism[edit | edit source]

This event will trigger shortly after the first act of vandalism.

The Londoners have defaced more walls, urging everybody to join them and abandon the city. Some graffiti even mocks your leadership, branding you an unfit leader incapable of doing what it takes to save our people.

You have the following options:

  • Send a cleric to reassure people: Hope will fall slightly. Requires a House of Prayer
  • Send watchmen to remove it: Hope will fall slightly. Requires the Neighbourhood Watch
  • Ignore it - these are just words: Hope will fall

Cleric beaten[edit | edit source]

If you send a cleric to reassure the people during "Another act of Vandalism," this event will trigger.

Captain, a priest was assaulted whilst trying to reassure people disturbed by the Londoners' slogans! We should do something to protect our people.

You have the following options:

  • Ask the faith keepers to secure the streets: Hope will rise. Requires the Faith Keepers
  • We need the faith keepers to secure the streets: You will have 3 days to establish the Faith Keepers. Hope will rise slightly.
  • Ask the faith keepers to strike back: Discontent will fall. Requires the Faith Keepers
  • We need the faith keepers to strike back: You will have 3 days to establish the Faith Keepers. Discontent will fall slightly.
  • We will pray for him and his assailants: Hope will rise slightly. Discontent will fall slightly. Requires Evening Prayers (Law)
  • We shall congregate and pray for them all: You will have 3 days to sign the Evening of Prayers law. Hope will rise slightly.

Watch members beaten[edit | edit source]

If you send a watchman to remove the message in "Another act of Vandalism," this event will trigger.

Captain, members of the Neighbourhood Watch who were removing the Londoners' slogans have been assaulted! We should do something to protect our people.

You have the following options:

  • Send guards to secure the streets: Hope will rise. Requires an active Guard Station.
  • We need guards to secure the streets: You will have 3 days to open a Guard Station. Hope will rise
  • Order guards to strike back: Discontent will fall. Requires an active Guard Station.
  • We need guards to strike back: You will have 3 days to open a Guard Station. Discontent will fall
  • I don't want to escalate this: Hope will fall

Miscreant beaten[edit | edit source]

Sir, our guards have caught the man who was writing the Londoners' slogans on the walls. Now they've beaten some sense into him, he's unlikely to do it again.

You have the following options:

This event will trigger after messages are written on the walls.

Captain, a group of people has gathered to seek your assurance. They're concerned about the messages the Londoners keep writing on the walls.

"These slogans appeal to the most discontented," they say. "Your lax approach only emboldens them. Perhaps it's time for a different tack?"

You have the following options:

  • I will decide how to handle this. now go home!: Protests will be forcibly dispersed Discontent will rise. Requires an active Guard Station or Faith Keepers
  • Ask the faith keepers to walk the streets
  • Have faith, words will do you no harm: Hope will fall
  • We need a way to keep the peace: You will have 3 days to open a Guard Station or establish the Faith Keepers
  • Send guards to walk the streets
  • Everyone has the right to speak freely: Hope will fall

If you have faith keepers walk the streets, this event will trigger

Sir, people are no longer troubled by the Londoners' slogans. Group prayers have strengthened our community.

Small candles keep appearing under the slogans. People leave them when they pray for the souls of the Londoners.

You have the following options:

Sir, people are no longer concerned by the Londoners' slogans. Some have started to bring hot soup to the guards patrolling the streets.

"We just couldn't bear watching them walking the streets in this cold. The slogans? The deranged scrawl of cowards, nothing more."
