The Price of a Lie (Arc)

From Frostpunk Wiki

The Price of a Lie is an event arc in The Fall of Winterhome. It only triggers if you select "[LIE] I know of another city" during "We have to evacuate" in The Evacuation (Arc).

Blackmail[edit | edit source]

This event will trigger shortly after you select "[LIE] I know of another city" during "We have to evacuate" in The Evacuation (Arc).

An engineer takes you aside. He lays before you a map of the area around Winterhome.

"I know you lied to us. There are no known settlements nearby. I've kept this to myself, haven't even told my wife... so far." In exchange for his silence, he demands to be sent to the Dreadnought with his family.

You have the following options:

  • Ignore him: Your lie will be exposed, with potentially dire consequences.
  • Agree to his demands: You'll have to send two engineers and two children to the Dreadnought on the next transport.
  • Silence him: The engineer will be killed. Requires an active Guard Station or Faith Keepers.

The truth must come out[edit | edit source]

If you agree to the engineers demands, this event will trigger later.

Sir, a group of engineers is here. They want to talk to you... in private.

"We figured out why you sent our friend and his family to the Dreadnought. You lied about the other city. We kept your secret to give you a chance to come clean, but if you don't tell people the truth, we will."

You have the following options:

  • Agree to tell the truth: The consequences may be dire.
  • Silence them: Four engineers will be killed. Requires an active Guard Station or Faith Keepers.

The deception ends[edit | edit source]

If you select "Ignore him" or "Agree to tell the truth" in either of the two previous events, this event will trigger.

"Don't trust that cheat!" shouts someone by the stockpiles. "The other city is a lie! We have to save ourselves!"

Since your deception has come to light, people no longer trust that you will evacuate them. A large group has stolen Food Rations and Wood to equip themselves. If we don't stop them, they'll leave Winterhome and go to the Dreadnought on their own.

You have the following options:

  • Let them go: Discontent will rise greatly. Hope will fall greatly. A group of people will leave for the Dreadnought on their own.
  • Use lethal force to stop them: People will get badly hurt and some may die. Requires an active Guard Station or Faith Keepers.
