The Dissident (Event Series)

The Dissident is a series of events that triggers after the passage of New Order (Law). It will most likely result in a death.

A traitor among us[edit | edit source]

The first event of this series will trigger shortly after the passage of a the law.

Captain, one of our engineers is spreading lies about you, accusing you of tyranny.

His lectures on history are popular with both workers and engineers. This makes him all the more dangerous.

You have the following options:

  • Lock him up: This person will be imprisoned.
  • Send guards to rough him up: This person will be injured
  • Leave him be: Discontent will rise slightly.

Note: if you lock up the engineer, this event series will end.

A stubborn fool[edit | edit source]

If you chose "Send guards to rough him up" during "A traitor among us," this will be the next event to trigger.

Sir, the traitorous engineer refuses to back down.

Our men did their duty and paid him a visit, but he only screamed something about us proving his point. We're convinced that he won't keep his mouth shut.

You'll have the following options:

  • Silence him for good: This person will be killed.
  • Leave him be: Discontent will rise.

Traitor on the loose[edit | edit source]

If you chose "Lock him up" during "A traitor among us" this event will trigger.

Captain, it seems that the traitorous engineer we imprisoned has friends. Someone's set him free!

He was briefly seen speaking to some people on the street. "I have no intention of hiding from our Captain forever. I won't stop my lectures," he said, according to our informant. "I want to make perfectly clear to him the heavy price that we all pay

You have the following options:

  • Keep me informed

People's fury grows[edit | edit source]

If you chose "Leave him be" in either "A traitor among us" or "A stubborn fool," this event will trigger next.

Sir, the traitorous engineer grows insolent. He's giving another lecture: "Lies and violence as means of control." This time it could turn into a riot.

Some of our most loyal followers are planning to attend it to shout him down. If any of his listeners try to defend him, there'll be a brawl. People will be hurt and possibly killed.

You'll have the following options:

  • Send the guards to maintain order: Many people could get hurt. Discontent will rise.
  • My people know what to do with traitors: This engineer may be killed.

End of anarchy[edit | edit source]

If you chose "Send the guards to maintain order" during "People's fury grows," you will trigger this event.

Our guards have dealt decisively with the riot and the traitorous engineer.

When the lecture devolved into a shouting match and then into a brawl as predicted, the guards stormed in, batons in hand, and quashed the disturbance. The engineer broke down when he saw people weren't swayed by his lies. He was killed during an attempt to escape capture.

You'll have the following options:

If you chose "Silence him for good" in "A stubborn fool" this event will trigger.

Our loyal citizens have killed the traitor as he attempted to escape.

He must have guessed why our guards were approaching him, because he tried to flee the moment he saw them. Fortunately he slipped on a patch of ice, but before the guards could reach him some workers had pinned him down and clubbed him to death. It seems they'd been itching to deal with him for some time.

You'll have the following option:

  • He asked for it

There will be a different version of this event if you choose "My people know what to do with traitors" during "People's fury grows"

Our loyal citizens have dealt with the traitorous engineer. There were no other casualties.

During the lecture, our people began to counter the engineer's lies. His listeners tried to defend him, but they quickly fled. Our people seized him and, enraged by his refusal to back down, hanged him from the rafters.
