Steam Hub is one of the Buildings in Frostpunk. When powered by the Generator, these contraptions create additional smaller heat zones around them. Each active Steam Hub consumes 3 Coal per hour (72/day) at base level.
Description
The Steam Hub is a steam-powered contraption that is basically a smaller version of the Heat Generator Tower. When powered by the Generator, these contraptions create additional Heat Zones around them. Steam Hubs also serves as refuel stations for Automatons, when their Steam Core, fuel tank or batteries start getting low these metal behemoths will walk to the nearest Stream Hub and dock with it in order to refuel. So it is a smart idea to build a Steam Hub close to any Automaton operated buildings, so that the slow and lumbering Automaton don’t have to walk far to refuel itself. Each active Steam Hub will consume about half as much Coal as the Generator consumes based with each Steam Level.
Levels
- Steam level 4 - 12 Coal to turn on this steam level. +4 temperature in all heat zones. 400% Coal consumption.
- Steam level 3 - 9 Coal to turn on this steam level. +3 temperature in all heat zones. 300% Coal consumption.
- Steam level 2 - 6 Coal to turn on this steam level. +2 temperature in all heat zones. 200% Coal consumption.
- Steam level 1 - 3 Coal to turn on this steam level. +1 temperate in all heat zones. 100% Coal consumption.
- Shut down - +0 temperate in all heat zones. -% Coal consumption.
Notes
- Researching Steam Hub can be done at the Workshop. It costs 10 Wood and requires 7 in-game hours.
- Each Steam Hub will create a smaller heat zone outside of the Generator range.
- It is useful to provide heat to working areas and shelters in order to prevent frostbites and to expand other places beyond the Generator's area.
