Save Our People (Arc)

Save Our People is an Event arc in The Refugees. It starts the scenario's storyline, and encompasses several waves of refugees coming to the city.

First refugees[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the first group arrives at your city.

The first group is finally here. We were relieved to learn that the trail is still negotiable. They saw another group behind them who should arrive soon.

You have the following options:

  • I see: Hope rises.

We need a Beacon[edit | edit source]

If you do not have a beacon after the first group arrives, this event will trigger.

Captain, a group of our people wants to talk to you. They urge you to build a Beacon.

"It was so difficult to find our way here. Our friends are still suffering on the trail, lost, alone and frightened. We have to help them.

You have the following options:

  • Of course: You'll have to build a Beacon.

Another group arrives[edit | edit source]

This event is triggered when the second group arrives.

The next group of our brothers and sisters has joined us. They are relieved to finally see us and our city.

"Here we can be free at last! In London we had to toil like slaves for a piece of bread."

You have the following options:

Missing children[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the third group arrives.

Several families have reached our city. Unfortunately, some of their children got lost near the Trail Bend. They are distraught and beg you to help their kids.

You have the following options:

Missing children found[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when you bring the children at the Trail Bend back to the city.

Captain, the group from the Trail Bend has reached our city. The missing children are amongst them. Their parents are beside themselves with joy.

You have the following options:

  • I see: Hope rises slightly.

Another group arrives (pt.2)[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the fourth group arrives. There are two variations.

If you have a beacon:

More than a dozen of our people have reached the city. They look around in awe.

"The Generator is truly a wonder! And to think the lords wanted to keep this place for themselves."

You have the following options:

  • I see

If you do not have a beacon:

More than a dozen of our people have reached the city. They are exhausted and frozen to the bone. They urge you to set up the Beacon.

"Why haven't you built it already? It's a miracle we found the way at all!"

You have the following options:

  • I see: Hope falls slightly

Another group arrives (pt. 3)[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the fifth group arrives. There are two variations.

If you have a beacon:

This group was caught in a vicious blizzard. The light of our Beacon led them safely through the worst of it.

You have the following options:

  • I see

If you do not have a beacon:

This exhausted and frostbitten group was caught in a vicious blizzard. Without the light of the Beacon to lead them, some of their friends got lost.

You have the following options:

Lost refugees[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the sixth group arrives.

According to these survivors, a group of refugees took a wrong turn at the White Pass. They'll surely die if we don't send scouts to help them.

You have the following options:

Lost refugees found[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when you have brought the refugees at the White Pass back to your city.

Sir, the refugees who took a wrong turn at the White Pass have reached our city. They look around eagerly, longing for a hot meal and a warm bed.

You have the following options:

  • I see: Hope rises slightly.

Another group arrives (pt.4)[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the seventh group arrives. There are two variations.

If you have a beacon:

These newcomers came across some lost engineers and brought them to our city. They have unsettling news.

As we were leaving London in the ships taken from the lords, we heard Lord Craven giving the order to shoot at us. We must stick together in case he ever follows us here.

You have the following options:

  • I see

If you do not have a beacon:

The newcomers tell us that they saw several bodies on the trail. "The way here is deadly without the Beacon."

They also have other, more unsettling news. As we were leaving London in the ships taken from the lords, we heard Lord Craven giving the order to shoot at us. Let's hope he doesn't follow us here.

Avalanche survivors[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when the 8th group of refugees arrives at your city.

This group has been through a lot. An avalanche at the Black Spire separated them from their friends. They beg us to help them.

You have the following options:

  • I see

Avalanche survivors found[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when you bring back the refugees from the Black Spire.

Captain, the refugees who survived the avalanche at the Black Spire have reached our city. They have finally been reunited with their friends.

You have the following options:

  • I see: Hope rises slightly.

The final group[edit | edit source]

This event triggers on the last group of refugees.

The people from this group say that no more refugees are coming.

"We were the last to leave the ships, so we should be the last to reach the Generator. There's no living soul left on the trail behind us.

You have the following options:

You've saved all of our people[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when you have saved all 10 refugee groups and retrieved all refugees from the 3 scouted locations.

You did it! Our friends and families, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives are safe. We're stronger now. You've proved that together we can achieve the impossible.

You have the following options:

  • I'm glad to hear that: Hope rises.

You've saved most of our people[edit | edit source]

This event triggers when you have the required amount of citizens but did not save them all from the scouted locations.

You've tried hard, but ultimately you haven't saved all of our people. Some of our friends and loved ones may be still out there, but it's too late to help them. We can only mourn their fate and our losses.

You have the following options:

Shortly after saving your citizens, this event may trigger. It's exact trigger is unknown, but is likely related to the groups you save.

Captain, a young couple asked us to deliver this note to you.

We were separated on the trail and had to fight back despair. Thanks to your efforts, we've been reunited. No words can express our gratitude."

Young widower's suicide[edit | edit source]

Shortly after saving your citizens, this event may trigger. It's exact trigger is unknown, but is likely related to the groups you fail to save. A citizen will die.

Captain, a young man has killed himself. He left a note

She was the love of my life. We were separated on the trail and I reached the city alone. For a while I was sure she'd be rescued, but now I see there's no reason for me to stay here any longer.

You have the following options:

  • I see: Hope falls

Memorial plaque[edit | edit source]

Shortly after saving your citizens, this event may trigger. It's exact trigger is unknown, but is likely related to the groups you save.

Captain, a plaque dedicated to the memory of our people who perished on the trail has been placed on the Generator by the mourning families and other survivors. The inscription on it reads

"You left this shelter on earth for the eternal home. We shall meet there someday."
